Week 3 - Minh-Minh Nguyen

 This week, me and my partner worked to create the poster presentation and finalize our prototype. We changed the layout of the PCB board and learned about machine learning. I enjoyed building using the SparkFun kit and tinkering with the code of the TinyWatch. I struggled to grasp the different variables of codes and how they fit together, receiving many errors on the codes and having to redo it. All in all, the coding experience and people I met through this program are the most impactful parts of it.

  Week 2 Blog 1. What are you first thoughts on the projects you have been working on? I really liked working on the Sparkfun electronics kit. My favorite projects this week were definitely Simon Says and the "Self Control Car" because of how fun they are to play with. Week 1 Blog - Natasha M. This is what I saw in the mail during my last month of school:  Dear Natasha,   Congratulations! You have been chosen to take part in the PATHS-UP Young Scholars Digital Health program! The program will be held Mon - Thu, June 10 - June 27, 2024, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in Facilities Engineering and Planning Building, Room 102 (number 26 on the attached campus map) at  Rice  University.   Even though I was happy to participate in the program, I knew I needed preparation. So I started preparing only a few days after the email. I refreshed some of my coding skills (which are mainly in Python and Swift). Specifically, I freshened up on using Python libraries like Pandas and NumPy. I also quickly made a  few simple basic apps on Swift such as a calculator and a simple workout card game. Week 3 - Catherine

 Week 3 - Catherine Project My project is finally finished. On Monday, I finished wiring my project and the hardware components. I was able to calibrate our sensor and ensure that the components were functioning properly. Throughout the building of my project, I go to learn a lot about electrochemistry and chemistry in general. On Tuesday, I finished creating our poster and began rehearsing what I was going to say. Designing the poster took a bit as I need to fill out the Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusion sections. I really liked working on the poster and practicing the presentation because I enjoy elevator pitches. Paths-UP Program I really enjoyed the program. My favorite parts were :the lectures covering machine learning and software in general; getting to play around with the Arduino; and touring various places at Rice.
